The Mountain Bike Routes

Use the the map to make up your own mountain bike routes or follow the route suggestions.

Map Side 1

Loughrigg, Elterwater, Hodge Close, Iron Keld - 17 miles

Miles of excellent bridleways including the thrilling descent from Iron Keld. The route starts at Ambleside (although there are plenty of options to start at other places along route) then it's onto Elterwater, skirting Little Langdale to Iron keld, onto Skewlwith Bridge and back.

Plus the maps also shows an extended route of 21 miles

This continues down to Outgate and then close to the shores of Lake Windermere.

Map Side 2

The Loughrigg Circuit - 8 miles

A short but fun packed tour. Ridden in the direction highlighted most of the climbing is in tarmac, whilst most of the descending on rocky trails. Superb views, especially along Loughrigg Terrace.
